Distribution Systems Control tailored for your company.
Action.Grid is the operation of a distribution utilitys electrical system in a single software package. Composed of programs with diverse functionalities, it facilitates the process of generation, operation and maintenance of the distribution network, guaranteeing greater reliability, speed, analysis possibilities and efficiency in the transmission and distribution of energy.
The smart solution for software interconnection
The interconnection between different software used in the operation offers, in a fully integrated package, the optimization of the process of locating and recovering failures in the electrical system.
- For utilities with part of the system already implemented, it allows the integration of the OMS module to the existing solution.
Differentials
Speed of processing and presentation of georeferenced information.
Complete integration between modules.
Reliable intercom with the SCADA system, whether it is already installed or not.
Management of high, medium or low voltage networks.
Visual system parameters are completely configurable.
Possibility of managing the company’s assets. Both operators (Action.OMS) and field teams (Action.MOB) have access to the asset management module. Once a service is completed, the materials used in the service are entered into a database. The software, which has already registered the values of materials, adds these values to the man/hour cost of the workers who performed the service, thus offering a detailed control of the total cost of each activity.
The greater the level of automation in a utility’s network – with relays, remotes, concentrators, remote control switches, reclosers, etc. –, the greater the ease and agility of detecting and solving the problems inherent in the energy transmission/distribution process.
5 modules make up Action.Grid
The OMS (Outage Management System) module is indispensable for any electric power distribution utility. It is the georeferenced system responsible for real-time management of the treatment of faults and interruptions in the electrical network.
Among several features, it is able to predict the location of failures, calculate quality of service indicators required by ANEEL, provide information on estimated time of failures to customers, prioritize efforts in order to reduce the amount of energy not distributed during failures, simulate actions and analyze their effects, manage power outage claim calls and manage teams responsible for fault restoration.
State-of-the-art SCADA software, developed in a .NET environment. Learn more at Action.Net.
The EMS (Energy Management System) module is used to optimize the performance of electric power generation and transmission systems.
The SCADA system integrated to the EMS module allows for state estimation and contingency analysis functions, enabling the dispatch of loads at the transmission level between the various substations of a distribution concessionaire. The solution has an advanced power system simulator, allowing short circuit analysis, visual and automatic coordination of protections, harmonics analysis, transient stability, reliability analysis, electric arc (Arc Flash), among other features.
Spin, in partnership with Unicamp, in 2001, implemented at NDB (Neoenergia Distribuição Brasília) a system with these characteristics, which is still in operation today.
You can integrate any SCADA software with the Action.EMS module, however, Spin recommends using Action.NET.
The GIS (Geographic Information System) module maintains geospatial information of all the utility’s assets in a relational database whose organization is oriented to real-time visualization, being able to store this information in different layers, which can be activated or deactivated as needed.
Within the Action.GRID solution package, Action.GIS performs spatial editing of the location of company assets and can plot the generated map on a smooth surface or even over a location on Google Maps, matching company asset information with geographic and topological aspects of the region.
Through Action.GIS, your company can use various DMS applications in the design and simulation phase of system operation.
Control and communication are complementary activities. Without a reliable information sharing process, it is not possible to keep an electrical system running consistently. If, on the one hand, Action.NET –software SCADA in the Spin cloud – takes care of data collection and storage, on the other hand, the Action.MOB system helps in the communication of field teams.
Action.MOB is formed by a set of applications developed for tablets and smartphones, using the Android (Google), IOS (Apple) and Windows environments, which provide information from SCADA, GIS, OMS and DMS modules in mobile equipment.
This hotline speeds the resolution of electrical network faults and events. Service teams have direct access to data, such as tickets and a city map, through which they can carry out support and maintenance activities with greater precision, speed and effectiveness.
Implementation
Check a summary of the activities to be performed to install Action.GRID:
Analysis of the utility’s system considering its commercial system, its georeferenced system, its SCADA and its operating culture. The objective is to establish procedures and define services/programs to:
- Generate the Action.GRID consumer/transformer database and establish procedures for its periodic update;
- If there is already a georeferenced system for the company’s assets, establish procedures for its import and periodic update;
- If there are already procedures for call management and team management in the field, define how they will be integrated with the new system;
- If there is already a SCADA, define how it will be integrated with the new system.
With the responsibilities of the concessionaire and Spin, pricing the solution and elaboration of the implementation schedule;
Using the Action.GRID integration library, develop the utility’s system integration routines to the proposed solution;
With all assets, from the existing solution. Note that, if the customer does not have a georeferenced solution, using Action.GIS and Action.MOB it is possible to generate a system from scratch;
Using the generated georeferenced base;
Commission the system;
Develop the documentation as built and train the operation and maintenance teams.
